I want to replace my rear diff bushings but I read somewhere that going full aluminium can lead to premature failure of the rear differential as well as adding a lot of annoying drivetrain noises.

I saw that Gsx-dude sells some rear diff mounts with polyoxymethylene bushings. How do these compare to full aluminium ones?

Any chance to get a hold of stock bushings? I heard that the stockers provide some shock dampening so the rear diff doesn't take it too hard on launches.

I did search but did not find much info about it.

This is a for a 2g.

Street car - soft bushings - quiet ride - designed for 200hp
As soon as you start laying down more power, the ammount of "slop" in the cushy rubber will introduce other issues - wheel hop and other shocks to the system, start to break down the cushy rubber and the factory bushings fail to transfer the torque to the tires, and the rubber band of a drive line starts flopping around banging into the underside of the car, and breaking things.

More solid bushings help handle the torque transfer to the tires - and yes - there is more noise transferred into the chassis.

I chose "Dudes" rear diff and sub frame bushings as a performance improvement - I'll see what they sound like when I get the car back from the shop, but I won't be complaining about drive line noise if I can get all the HP to the wheels without breaking stuff.

@MindBlowin03 thanks for the info.. Im looking to make around 300-400 whp so im examining the options just to be as safe as possible.

Going on 4 months now. No response... after multiple attempts to contact him. F/R sub frame bushings & rear diff bushings. $430.00 The waiting time is bad enough, but I got sick of the no response bs. I'm trying to get my $$$ back through paypal now. I would consider looking for alternatives. I was under the impression the wait time was 3 to 5 weeks.
Funny, when I ordered these bushings he replied within minutes when taking my funds and stated "we'll get right on this order." Too bad. It looks like quality German engineering/machining.
I had bought Torque Solution bushings and returned them when I found out that a fellow DSMer was making these. I didn't read about all the long wait times and no response crap. My bad!

Sorry to hear that - Yeah I had a long wait - drop shipped to John, but timing was ok cause we had the subframes out to the powder coaters etc. etc. Bummer - He made great parts.

Anybody have any recent luck with www.dudes-custom-parts.com? We recently got my son's '98 TSI AWD back up and running after a couple years of work and the coast down diff noise / vibration transfer to the car with solid differential bushings is really bad. Was looking for other replacement options and saw Dudes but don't really want to get bogged down in a 5 month hassle.....

I've ordered twice from Dude this year so far. Both took almost exactly 2 months from date ordered to delivered in California.
My last order was for the rear diff brackets, bushings, and some other misc. shifter stuff. Ordered April 1st and received about two weeks ago.

I noticed this is the top search result
For DSM rear diff bushings
So I decided to place this info here Vs making an article.

I found an experimental option for anyone interested in an OEM equivalent alternative .

They are from the Mitsubishi lancer / outlander / Jeep patriot / compass all for the same years (2009-2017).

They are not exact.
They are not a 100% solution
They are what I call a 90% solution
They require cutting and shims to work

Shim stock is 0.2mm-0.4mm depending on your application.

I am aware that this is not what many would consider an appropriate solution.
I respect that, I had blown bushings and for me this was an acceptable solution. And I will gladly update with time.

These are intended as an option, I’m confident the community will improve on this project and make it more successful.

The Quick How to

The back two bushings are cut like this

Please ignore the bolt direction

And the 3rd mount is cut like this

And you add your needed shims

That’s it.

this is the reference for my claim.

Hope it helps.

* this is experimental and currently in testing *

OK, just wanted to circle back here with my DCP experience. I did end up ordering the bushings from DCP on 2/15 and received an email that they had shipped on 3/30 and they arrived today, 4/11. So very similar to the 2 months USMCGSX posted above. miliman13, let me know if you want me to post any measurements here.
