Hi, i have a 95 talon TSI awd that i did a a/t to m/t conversion on and ever since i did it my car has been really jerky at low speeds in 1st. Recently i just put in a new TRE trans with a lot of stuff done to it, new Spec stage 3 clutch and flywheel and new rear diff and its still their.... i don't really notice anything wronge at higher speeds but say going thru a parking lot at 5 mph, it will be find if u keep slightly on the gas but if you let off it will seem to like coast for 1/2 then kinda have a hard jerk foward and the car slows down fast almost like something is binding.... At times it can create a pretty hard thunk and sometimes get in this really bad like rocking back and forth motion really hard.

I honestly don't have a clue what year my t-case came off of.... would it be possible i put 97-99 tcase on a 95 tranny? and could that be the problem???

any advice would be appricated, thanks

I thought all manual cars did that in 1st gear due to the "play" in the drivetrain. I usually roll around parking lots in neutral or in 2nd. First gear is to herky-jerky for me at low speeds as long as I keep letting my foot off the accelerator.

Hmmm mabey it is somewhat normal... then a heavy clutch just makes it a lot worse. I've drove other awd 5sps before and they weren't as bad as mine but they weren't nearly as modified though either. But yeah it does fell like "play" in the tranny and 2nd gear doesn't really do it. I just didn't think their would be that bad with fully rebuilt tranny from TRE....

Check your throttle body and all the sensors. Sometimes, if they are adjusted incorrectly or the sensor is bad, the ECU will cut fuel thinking you are coasting, causing the car the buck a little. Just a thought.

I get the same problem.. a harmonic bucking that gets worse the longer you let it go on. Especially annoying in heavy traffic. Just replaced the motor mounts (and tranny mount) with solid urethane Prothane units, and it does improve it SLIGHTLY. It's still extremely noticeable. Didn't really do it when I had my GS-T, just the GSX.

I think part of it might just be normal. I know my gsx likes to buck sometimes in really lows speed in first gear, so I just put the clutch in before it can buck. That and I`m sure more power and a stronger clutch can only make it worse. Might want to check your motor mounts.

This condition is also exacerbated by "trying to save it". You know, like when you f*ck up your enagement of the clutch and you try to manipulate the gas and clutch pedal to save yourself the embarrasment of stalling or bucking or even clutch chatter.

Solution? Clutch in, and start over. :thumb:

Its not what your talkin about like when trying to take off... its when your already rolling and trying to keep a consistent low speed like say 5 mph but every time u let of gas just alittle it like throws u foward like drags down then when u try to pick up alittle speed it jerks ya back and sometimes will get like a really bad rockin back and forth motion. I've drivin other, more stock 5spd awd dsm's and they do it alittle but not nearly as bad as mine. its not, because the rpms are so low that motor is chuging it happens to me at 2k or above just trying to keep a consisant speed.

I didn't really think of it as being in the motor but i guess i can look into next time it does it. But it almost has that felling to it. i think you could be right with the idle since were i'm going so slow its kickin the ECU into idle mode which would make since why it would fell like it will start boggin then kick in again. I'll have to look into next time, the idle sensor never even crossed my mind.

Actually, that is exactly what I'm talking about.
This happens when engaging the clutch and trying to only move at 5mph or less just as it happens when the clutch is out and you try to move at 5mph or less.
