really bad tire wear on rf tire 95 tsi fwd

my friend has a 95 tsi fwd turbo and it wears the right front tire out really fast and has cords showing i have been told about 1 grand to fix the suspention but thats bs so i think its a bent control arm because the car has a broken front bumper and the fender on that side is moved out of wack like it hit a curb really hard am i on the right track here? i will know for sure on thursday when i take it to the shop and put it on a hoist to change the worn out upper strut mount plates and try to get the sunroof working again.

Sounds like one of the things that we would have to see the car for. You are just going to have to check all the components. Does the tire wear in the center or edges?

the entire tire is bald and the car has alot of negative camber its been lowered and the bumper is only about an inch off the ground but the cords are showing on the inside edge.

Sounds like you got a toe problem, either caused by or in addition to whatever screwed up that corner of the car.

Toe is what eats up the inside of tires.

actually a toe problem causes tire feathering, if it not fixed it can lead to wearing it down to the wires, but a camber problem will cause inner or outter tire to wear much faster and is much more noticable.

Toe can cause wear that looks like camber wear. Or if toe is off bad enough it will cause wear across the whole tire.

Toe will cause the tread to smear out towards the outside/inside depending on wether it's toe'd in or out too much. Excessive treadware on the inside says it's a camber issue. From what you discribe it sounds like something is bent/worn out.

So you are trying to say that my years of alignment experiance are wrong and that toe can't cause wear on just the inside or outside edges? I know what I am talking about or I wouldn't be saying it.

actually the car tracks straight if you hold the wheel but when you let go it pulls right and hard and yes the toe is off i know alot about allignments as well the car has some negative toe and alot of negative camber but i think its caused by the control arm being bent i really dont care witch angles are causing it because i already know what to look for in the case of tire wear but thanks for the imput on the wear angles.

my camber angless are -2.3 front and rear and my car dosent wear tires that bad but the again im runnin lo pros ill bet you have bent suspension components but there is no way to tell without seeing the car

1.)A picture of the tire tread might help.
2.)If there is a good bit of damage in that front area, it probably got hit.
3.)If you have to replace all of that corner's suspension, you might want to hit up a junkyard. It will save you some cash, especially if you don't know what needs replaced.
