My 96 gsx has a quite bad cut out/sputtering problem when I apply alot of throttle to it. Im thinking it may be the fuel filter, I will try that tomorrow. Anyways, it idles great, but when I go to give it around 50% throttle, it doesnt want to take it and you have to let off the accelerator pedal quickly or it will cut all the way off.

Hopefully I explained it well enough for some people to throw out other ideas of what it may be.

Sounds like a fuel problem, or a bad boost leak. Run a boost leak test. There's a couple how~tos on here that will walk you through it. Very simple. Is the car stock?

I would start with doing a boost leak test. I like to charge things 10psi higher then what I run. If that comes up ok then I would look at making sure you have a clean fuel filter. I would replace it. Their cheap enough and easy to do.

Ill be starting with the fuel filter this weekend. the thing that gets me is it idles perfectly and when you give it barely any throttle, which leads me to believe its a fuel issue...but im hardly a mechanic so what do I know LOL

Too much fuel will cause just as many problems as many problems as not enough. This sounds exactly like when I took my turbo off to clean it up, and after I put it back on, I forgot to connect the two halves of my UICP. Short, rough test drive for sure.
