really bad idle staling

ok today i was wiring up my gauges i just got and i happen to snip a wire i thought i could splice in to well it was the wrong one so i re wired it back together after this the car has been staling every time i down shift/ push the clutch in and the idle is so bad some times it wont even stay running. also i would like to note that i let the lights on and killed the battery i recharged it with a battery charger. now the wire i cut was one that went to the steering colom would cutting and splicing this wire be my problem or do i all of a sudden have a big problem. the car runs fine as long as im not at idle it still pulls as hard as ever so i dunno wtf the problem is please try to help and not just go hey look over here. thanks 4 any help

Hmm, if you spliced the wire that you cut back together properly, it doesn't sound like that would cause your problem. What gauges were you installing and did any of these involve splicing into ECU wires or vacuum lines?

i haven't installed the gauges yet at all there just sitting there its allmost as if i have some kinda vacuum leak but its like 25 out side its really hard to be working on my car. it just started doing this is crazy when i was trying to fit the gauge pod in a few nights ago i let the car idle 2-3 hour's and it was fine.

can some one help me seriously its getting dangerous to drive ok every time i go to the car it asks for the radio code so i put it in and the radio works then the lights that are on the mirror don't work now either. this is the wire i clipped could this be why im having all of these problems all at once.

Have you check your fuses yet? You might have blown one.

would a blown fuse cause bad idle im not overly concerned about the lighting its staling at 55 mph and not being able to tern around a corner because i down shift from 5th to 4th or something its just that the radio and the lights are messed up now. i am really good at wiring would cutting that wire and then rewiring it mess all this up. i guess ill have to look at the fuses tomorrow and get back to you guys.

check your fuses and also remove the cables from the BATTERY AND RESET YOUR ECU

just remove the Battery cables for half an hour or so and rewire it back this should reset your ECU

check also for vaccum leaks ( are you venting your BOV ?) check all the hoses next to the BOV


at what RPM you are ideling ? try to adjust your idle Screw

i am so not venting the bov its running as if i am tho thats the thing i would have to say that its running just like as if i was venting personally ive only owned the car 2 months i still owe the bank 2800 on the car if it craps out on me i am so walking 10 miles to work for the next year i will unhook the batery resetting the ecu may help thanks

check as i mentioned your vaccum hoses if it has any holes (specially the one that connects the BOV to the Intake?

well im resetting the ecu and i checked a few hoses it sounds like i have some kinda leak but i dunno from where.

well i just added a new battery it helped a lil but did not solve the problem
i have more of an issue all of a sudden then that the power locks arnt working the way there supposed to the lights that attached to the mirror wont go on even if i tern them on manually the radio wont stay on i have to keep entering the security code the cd player part of the radio is giving me an error the antenna used to go up now it dosent and the windows don't hold there 30 second roll up or down after u shut off the car is there a fuse that controls that

well the car runs with out this plug what dose this plug do it connects behind the steering column any one have any ideas on what this plug dose

It could possibly be the altenator fuse. I was having some similar problems and thought that it was the altenator. Changed that and still had the same problem. Turned out being the altenator fuse. It works great now. I still stalling every once in awhile.

yea but see i did not have any problems at all until i sniped that 1 wire now thers a bunch of stuff not working but i unplugged the whole thing and the car runs with out that plug dose any one know what that plug controls.

no i was just saying the car runs with it unplugged the car is still staling i herd there was an idle control. but what i just don't get is why are my interior lights not going on all of a sudden the antenna wont go up when u push the power Dore lock the other lock doesn't lock the radio acts as if its getting power for the first time because it asks for the security code every 15 or so minuets that the car is off. some one on here has to know what this problem is or can guide me i really need help.

check your idle when your not driving the car. it shouldn't be lower then 1000rpms. if it keeps stalling when you push in the clutch then just downshift and do it kind of fast to keep the car from stalling out. my car had a problem almost the same but it evenuatly stopped for some reason when i messed with the idle screw and TPS.

when down shifting when you get to 2nd gear slowly let off the gas and slowly push in the clutch it shouldn't bog down on you at that point.

Unfortunately that is not always the case, even for the wisemen guru's.

But you can crack open a chilton's or haynes manual and check out the wiring.

edit: What gauges did you wire in and how?

-I'm guessing your problem does not lie within the wire you snipped. ( unless you somehow shorted it) check your fuses as well.

i looked at the fuses its like the memory wire is not working the way its supposed to and i feel kinda stupid staling at every stop sine and light.

read my above post and try it, your car shouldn't stall then. that is me assuming that it doesn't stall at idle either.

i think i allredy stated that i have not done any thing with them yet at all i just screwed the pod and just ran the wires down. i did jam a few of the power wires in to some of the ends of the plugs to see if they had 12v after i found that 1 wire in that plug i thought i had a 12 volt ignition so i cut the wire and spliced in my power wire after that it did not work so i cut the wire from the gauges after that i unplugged the dimer wire and rand the gauges off that for 1 day since then they have been unhooked. i haven't even cut a hole in the steering column boot yet to run my vacuum line. all i know is that it seems to me that some kinda memory wire got fuged up. dew to the fact the radio wont hold its memory the power antenna wont go up or down when u push the lock the other lock dosent lock and my mirror lights wont go on at all. now what i was wondering in all of this is there a fuse some where that goes to all of those objects.
