Re-flash when installing cams?

Does anyone know if it is nessary to reflash your computer, when installing 272/272 cams. Or any after market cams..?? Someone at my school said that he needed to on his ford, and I was like..WTF

I am Building a 6-bolt and just doing internal engine at the moment..I plan on building the motor with bolt-ons to have anywhere from 450 to 550awhp.. I was thinking about getting a Garrett Gt42R but thats not set in stone yet...

What do you mean by reflash? Reflashing as in updating the tune on the ECU? Some people are getting into that at the moment with the Evo 8 ECUs. You do need to retune the car.

The 2G in its current form in this current time, is unflashable. Re-programmable via ECMlink yes, but not flashable.

You don't need a 42R to get to 500AWHP too. Minimal would be a 30R on race gas and if you want room to grow then a 35R. No need to sacrifice all that spool for something you won't even be using to it's full potential or be near it's sweet spot on the map.
