Well recently I installed a SAFC II....all was well until a few days ago. My car randomly started stuttering and acceleration was SLLLOOOOOWWWWWW. This happens randomly...I havent driven it much since it happened, but it seems to me like it runs like that after some aggressive throttle. I replaced the plugs and wires and got no change. I hooked up a friends coilpack and still no fix. I am stumped as to what this can be.

Someone has to have some suggestions.

My battery, which is brand new...is not holding a charge for long either...I doubt this has anything to do with my problem though

Well, let's see. If your battery voltage drops below 9.7 volts. The coils can't generate enough voltage to fire the plugs properly. You would start noticing it under acceleration as the cylinders are under more pressure and require more voltage to fire the plugs.

Check your fuses first. Then if not charging, check the output pin on the alternator. At the battery you should have 13.5 to 14.5 volts engine running. If less than that you are going to need to find the problem and fix it. Alternators do get weak over time as they generate a lot of heat with the current they supply. If you have stuttering, check the battery voltage. Post your findings.

Good Luck

yeah check batt voltage first also have you tried testing or swapping your igntion capacitor box it is located on the rear of the motor beside and below your coil packs :laser:

Did you do a 6bolt swap?

I have the same problem and I DID do the 6 bolt swap. I randomly have power loss under any acceleration (not just heavy acceleration). I was thinking it was a timing problem so I got a timing light and checked, it's at 5btdc.

It doesn't do it in first gear and hardly in second but 3rd 4th and 5th it's pretty much constant. Most of the time when I back off the gas all the way or push in the clutch the normal acceleration comes back.

I never thought about this being a problem with my battery but after reading this I've thought about how many times my battery has went dead and I've needed to charge it during the 6 bolt swap.

I just figured I would post since you were asking if it was a 6 bolt swap, thought maybe you knew something that I didn't.

Thanks
-Steve
