I have a 97 Eagle Talon TSi with stock 2g everything except the 1g turbo and bov. I recieved a cel code p0300 driving on the highway. I pulled the plugs and one was fouled pretty good and the others were black. I put new ones in and reset the ecu. Driving on the highway, I let off the gas fast in 5th gear and the engine bucked and a few seconds later got a cel. I haven't checked the code yet, but I am thinking it's the same p0300, so I did some tests to the ignition system.
The coils primary resistance should be between .70 -.86 ohms, and I get 1.4 ohms when hot and 1.1 ohms when cold, and the secondary resistance are within spec.
I fallowed the Haynes test procedures of the power transistor. No continuity with or without a 1.5v battery conected.
My question is, will the car still run if these components are bad? The car does start and drive, but I don't want to buy these components if this isn't what's causing the random cylinder misfire.

I'm in the same boat as you. My original coil pack tested 1.2. I bought a coil pack from the local junkyard, but unfortunately it tested the same. I put that one in regardless, but it still ran the same as well. Haven't tested the transistor yet.
 
I also tested several other sensors that were out of spec, but 6ES plugs, and adjusting the end of the plug wires that plug into the coil packs, so they make a better a contact, stopped the cel from coming on. I drove about 300 miles and still no cel, and seems to be getting a little better gas mileage, but under boost it doesn't feal as smooth as it use to be. I guess it's time for a new ignition system.
I taped a wire to the negative of a AA battery and the other end to the negative probe of the DMM, and the wire taped to the positive of the AA to a small female quick disconnect, and used that to test for continuity in the transistor. The Haynes book says not to go over a 1.5v battery, and not to leave the battery connected for more the 9 or 10 seconds. By having the positive side connected, all I had to do was touch the negative probe to the pin for a second to see if the DMM beeps for continuity.
