Not sure if this is the correct place to post this but heres it goes anyways. My sister has a 2g nt eclipse. It will randomly die and not start for days. When it dies and she tries to start it, it will fire up and run for about a second and then die. This will go on for days and then randomly it will start and run fine till it dies again. Its got spark and fuel. What could be causing this random no start?

But wouldnt that also kill spark in 2 cylinders and cut off fuel?

I had the same problem a couple months back. it would warm up get to normal operating temp then it would misfire until it would finally die. Replaced the cam pos sensor crank pos sensor ignition coil pack plugs and wire. Turns out the egr tube was melting the wiring harness. I noticed it right before it started melting into the wires, so id check that.

Good luck.

Ok Ill check that out and see if thats the cause or not. I dont know much about the NT cars so i might ask a few more questions as I go

If you can't get it sorted, log it while it's killing itself and post the log.

OK im having the same issue and have ordered a CPS. It should be here today or tomorrow and I will update you on my issue.

I was driving down the interstate and it just shut off but before this it would randomly shut off for a split second then resume driving like nothing happened. I don't know but I always herd the ole saying "when it rains, it pours". This describes my luck last friday (which in turn was my birthday... GO FIGURE). HERE is a link to my thread were I was having similar symptoms and also my fuel pump went out at the same time :(

It will start for about a second or two then die every time you try to start it.

For the dying while on the highway or a second, i had this problem and it was the my amp power cable was a little frayed and was contacting the body and grounding out.

Those were the exact symptoms, I just wrapped it in some elec tape and I was g2g. :)

For the factory AMP?

No for my subwoofer amp, but it could happen to any positive wire from the battery i would think

I have a AMP power wire under the hood that runs to the trunk that the previous owner had installed but i disconnected it from the battery and tucked it away

My girl is having the same problem..The tach will drop to zero rpms then the car will just die..sometimes it will start back up, sometimes it needs a couple mintes..Replacing the Cam position sensor later on this week..

Her car was not throwing any codes so I'm gonna replace the cas and hopefully that does the trick..

It doesn't have to be just the amp wire it could be any live wire, but he is right about the ecu, it may be sending bad or false signal of some sort
