ran,died and now no compression

i had just bought a 93 eclipse gs and when i bought it i knew that it need a fuel pump so i replaced it i got i runing changed the oil and then i noticed water or somthing dripping down near the oil pan somewhere above it i took it dwon the road to see how it would drive the motor was vibrateing bad on acceleration then i stopped at a stop sign and my temperature gauge was still reading normal and it died. so i started it again then it lost power driving back to my house then finnally quit i open the hood there is smoke everywhere then i notice oil on top of the tranny im thinking a water pump but i dont know why im not getting any compression also i noticed the spark plug wire on cylinder 3 popped off....any ideas? oh and i forgot to mention that it is gettion spark and fuel the motor just cranks...

Are you saying you did a compression test and it was 0???? Did putting the plug wire back on help anything? Blown headgasket could cause the compression and the smoke.

i didnt do an exact compression test but you can tell that its not getting compression because i took the spark plug out and covered it with my finger and it didnt blow my finger out of the hole like it should have but im not sure if it is a head gasket because it should still fire even with it blown..and putting the plug wire didnt help anything im going to replace the plugs because as far as i know the guy who owned it before said it was setting for like 2 or 3 years without being started.

You most likely have a timing belt that either broke or stripped off the teeth.

i did notice a chunk out of the timing belt missing so it could be do you think that my motor is blown even if it jumped timing ### it ended up over heating and i still dont know where the water was coming from i did plan on doing the timing belt and the water pump i just dont want to throw money on a junk motor..

If it jumped more than a couple of teeth, you bent some or all of your valves.

yeah definetly timing belt man, not a good thing for the motor at all.

yea if it did jump it didnt go by much because if the valves were bent i would hear really loud ticks

Ive never heard a bent valve make noise. If your car died and now you have zero compression either the belts broke its jumped time and or bent valves and NO they dont "click"

I decided to "read" the OP. If its the 2.0 NT I would assume that your water pump and or balance shaft belt broke and caused your motor to jump time.

Valves don't make noise when your T-belt is off. In fact, you can even get *some* compression with bent valves. I got 25-50 psi with mine.

Its not always nice the have the better motor, To bad it was'nt a 1.8 you could just retime it and go...
