Rallycross in the Southeast

There are a number of opportunities to get your DSM out in the dirt this year. If you've never done a rallycross before, they are an absolute blast and have very simple requirements to enter - you don't need a dedicated car or perfect build. Seriously, if your DSM is running, you can enter.

Every car must pass tech, which includes the following:
* no serious leaks (a drip or two is OK)
* OE seat belts or acceptable harness
* Snell M2000 or better rated helmet (loaners are usually available on-site)
* battery is secure, i.e. will not move when shaken (no bunjie cords allowed)
* wheel bearings have no visible play

Stock ride height is totally fine; owners of lowered cars may want to inquire with the local organizer to see how bumpy the site is.

Cost is usually $30-50.

PARK ENTRY FEE:
$15 cash to get into the park if you are driving
$5 cash if you're a spectator
You'll have to sign a park waiver. Print and fill this out in advance to speed things along. You'll get a cool wristband for your effort.

EVENT ENTRY FEE:
$15 for SCCA members
$20 for non-SCCA members
You'll have to sign the SCCA waiver and if you're a non-member, complete a weekend membership form. If you come out and want to ride, you'll have to complete a weekend membership form (no charge) as well.

EVENT FORMAT:
4 timed runs + 4 timed runs. Competitors get free fun runs afterwards.

Here is a link to the SCCA Rallycross rulebook. We always seem to get people asking questions about classing; its all in there. Section 6.3 is for vehicle safety and is highly recommended to be read prior to heading out.

I'm surprised they let you run with the window open. HUGE safety concern. 6.3.E actually states Driver window must be not further than an inch down.

Yes, we are required to run with the windows up (within an inch of the top). I had them down in grid to cool off since the A/C is struggling right now and I forgot to put them back up and the starter didn't notice.

Ooof, can't say our starter hasn't missed something. Haha. Nothing like one of the corner workers calling in "car XXX has their window down" Bad starter, bad!
