radiator issues need help

so ive been having problems with cooling, my needle in the car sits 3/4 of the way up, also after driving around for a while the top hose into the radiator is hot (which it should be) the bottom hose along with the radiator itself is cold to the touch.

Here is what ive done / know.. changed the t-stat (oem) checked all relays, and fuses there all ok, and the fans work, so i'm guessing that i probably need a new radiator but want to see if anyone had any ideas.

also its a automatic, so if it is the radiator, does anyone know of a good aftermarket one, been searching around and i can only find ones for a manual

Do a complete Radiator flush, see if there is any temp differences or what comes out when you do flush it out.

You could have a problem with the water pump also. Pull the radiator and flush it with a hose to see if it is blocked. If water flows well than i'd suspect a water pump issue

yeah i do need to do that, but looking at the damn thing its beat up, but i will try that out, i forgot to say the water pump is brand new, had that along with the engine replaced less then 3 months ago, so i dont know if it crapped out already but ill take alook

If your bottom hose is cold to the touch then your thermostat isn't opening. So its either you have a air pocket in your system or your radiator is clogged in some way. I have seen this on a rare occasion where the bottom of the radiator clots with debris. I usually check this with my laser thermostat gauge. Good Luck.

John you never told these guys that your previous radiator flush yielded a ton of stop leak. Since your car has a seperate cooler like mine a manual radiator is what goes into our cars. The 2g 420a have their trans cooler inside of the radiator itself. Now its time to pick up that nice aluminum radiator.

did you put the thermostat in the correct way? its a stupid mistake but ive seen it before when i was working as a tech at this shop.. these other guys are prob right with the burping idea sometimes you gotta warm it up let it cool down and so on till you get that system full or parking on a incline of some kind can help... you could try blowing out the radiator with an air gun just pour some water in and blow it threw with the gun... works for heater cores just gotta try to find some kind of plug for the rad inlet... could also be the heator core.. im not positive if the dsms have a bypass incase the core clogs up i know some other cars do but that could cause a heat issue too
