Rack and Pinion???

Im goin to buy a GSX for 5000 but it has a broken rack and pinion and a blown turbo... but what is a rack and pinion and is it expensive to fix..

well it has to do with the steering and if im not mistaken its about 1000 dollars to fix that.. plus another 700-1000 to get another turbo in there. So.. 5k for that GSX.. how about no. You know he rode it hard or just plain didnt take care of it if those are dead.

well the car was owned by a chick that i know and treated the car very well... where can i find a rack and pinion? adn cant I just bolt ona an EVO III?

depends on what year GSX it is. the 16g can bolt up to a 1st gen but a 2nd gen will require a kit. so you are looking at about minimum of 650 for the turbo if you dont need the kit.

for the rack and pinion you might want to call a local mechanic on that.. i couldnt tell you what you needed or how its done.. just know it costs a lot to fix so it cant be too easy.

and the turbo should not just blow if she took care of it. will proper care and normal driving i doubt a turbo will fail. Though I have no idea how many miles are on that car.

The car has been in a mnior accident but no engine damage.. Im gonna call a junk yard for a price... but how easy is it to bolt on teh evo III and is that at all better than the small 16g?

the evo III big 16g will provide more horsepower than the small 16g without question. Depends on year of the GSX as to how hard it will be. Provide us with more info on the car and we can help more.

It is a 97 GSX auotmatic with 97000 miles on it

ok its a 2nd gen meaning none of the mitsubishi turbos will bolt right on.. you need to buy a kit which runs about 200 bucks to fit those turbos up. The only real bolt on I know of is the T28.. though slowboyracing does offer some 16g turbos that are supposed to bolt up to a 2nd gen you might want to check that out.

First of all, it has almost 100000 miles on it, its an auto, its got a "blown" turbo, and a shitty rack and pinion. I bet she let the power steering go out too. And how do you know the turbo is blown and its not just a leak? Is it literally off the car with dmg done? Or is this speculation. Rack n pinion job will cost you close to 2gs. Turbo could be cheap from 100- 1000 dollars. T25s are cheap but weak. I would say Forget this car, and buy a different car. 2gs are going down in value as they get older. You can find GSXs and GSTs that are in better shape that cost that much. If you get a 2g, bring it to mistu and have them inspect if for crankwalking signs. hmmk bye

I can get a rack and pinion bought and installe for 100 bones... i can put the evo III on it for 700 installed w/ teh kit the only problem i the high mileage she commuted to college so there highway and the auto tranny but i figured i can through on a shift kit and a torque converter and I'd be straight.
