So id like to get some reclinable racing seats for my 2g dsm. (Sparco,Corabeu, status, Bride) but i keep hearing that they give you less head room. I am 6'5" and am pretty snug as it is with the oem seats. Is there any hope for me getting racing seats or should i just get my oem's refinished?

Step 1. Buy motorcycle helmet
Step 2. Convert to targa top
Step 3. Enjoy Mario kart experience.

Nice car btw.

The two things to account for are really the height of the seat, from the bottom of the seat cushion to the top of it, and the type of slider you're going to be using. There are a few companies that make lo profile sliders, but you'll have to do a little research on them.

I'm 6' and in my car I have about an inch above my head. It will also depend on if you have a sunroof or not. Sunroof headliner is a little lower too.

You might have to make low profile custom brackets for your seat sliders too, with angle bar. I've seen others do it, just a tight fit.

I too am 6'5" and wanting to put race seats in my 1g. Does anyone have a link to buy low profile sliders or want to share how they made their own?

Anyone? I dont mind bolting the passenger seat strait to the floor with home made simple brakets as it is already removed for weight. But god forbid if I ever let someone else drive my car they most likely wont be able to come close to pushing the clutch in. :p so a low profile slider is a must. Also would it be worth modifying the low pro slider so the front is raised giving the seat a slightly reclined feel allowing myself more head room? I really want some race seats soon as most other mods are already compleated and saftey is becoming more of a concern. :hellyeah: I dont want to drive around with my head stuck to the roof

Why would you want a sliding seat anyway? Get it to where it feels right and bolt it to the floor using some small brackets. Drill few holes in the brackets so the seat can be adjusted if needed. Would have to unbolt the seat and re-bolt it in the new position basically. Better yet make slots instead of holes so the seat won't have to be removed completely to adjust position.

My wife drives it occasionally and so does a close friend that is also a great mechanic. So when I drop it off at his shop at times there is no way he would be able to move it if the seat was bolted in my position!

Find a race fabrication shop to make custom seat mounts for the race seats. You need race seats to get that extra headroom. I am 6'2" and a shop made custom mounts for both of my HPDE/AX cars. They are not adjustable with sliding rails - that is how I got them as low as possible. The shop can drill different holes so you could unbolt to adjust forward and backward. With only four bolts they are easy to remove and a shop can help you figure out the best attachment points for a racing harness.

BTW, you could make a seat insert like the 12 & 24 hour endurance teams use for different sized drivers. That way your wife could toss that in and go for a drive.

im 6'4'' and i have about 2 inchs maybe more above my head wiht my evo 9 recaros

i bolted evo 9 recaro rails straight to corbeau seat brackets and bolted the brackets into my car, they sit nice and low and i have enough headroom although things may get tight if i wear a helmet, but they really cant get any lower.

good luck.
