My driver side seat just broke recently and i was interested in installing racing seats in my car. i dont have a huge budget so i was looking at the 3A Racing seats at pepboys on sale for $129.99 i was wondering if anyone had experience with these seats.

Also, what do i need to install them in my car. And do i need a racing harness?

Thank you,
Matt

The only thing bad about getting racing seats is that you can damage your back really bad. The only time you should have racing seats is when you have a roll cage. The roll cage helps support you. I've heard that you can damage/break your back.

Funny, I was just talking about this on the way back from getting my head resurfaced....:)

Ive _never_ heard about someone hurting their back just from a racing seat, unless it was damn uncomfortable or something. You should be able to use the stock belts with a racing seat.

I think he's talking about when people install racing seats and harnesses then bolt the shoulder harnesses to the floor.

Possibly. You shouldn't have anything to worry about if you mount the shoulder harnesses to the rear seat bolts, or to a harness bar.

Sorry, I didn't think he was going to use the stock seatbelt. I'm sorry.

As long as you get the brackets the seats will fit. I do not know of any company that makes harness bars for teh Eclipse, does anyone know? Yes if a harness is bolted to the bottom of a seat and you are invovled in an accident the belts will pull you down rather than prevent you from a forward motion, thus hurting you like possibly breaking your colar bone(s) or something not so nice.

The problem is without a cage during a rollover acident.
The harness will not allow you to move around, which is what you want in a racing application, and you will get crushed along with the roof.

allright i couldnt find any racing seats in my price range, so i found some leather GSX seats. but the driver is power and my stock seat was not. Will i somehow be able to hook them up?

Matt

I know on my GS-T the power wires are already under the seat even though I do not have them. I don't know about the RS/GS. Just look under the seat and check. It might be as simple as hooking it up and putting a fuse in the proper location.

The seat at checkers/kragen/Shucks is like 119 I think, I am 5'11 and I sit above the seat a little bit the holes are like below my collar bone about a inch or so.
