I am in the middle of making the biggest choice of my dsm. I need to know are the race motors worth it? I have a 95 tsi awd with 98k on it I was wondering how much could this block take? I like the ffwd 2.3 and the 2.4 kit made buy ah.... I don't remember right now but I like em because of the extra power low end and it's almost turn key but should I just get the kit? I know for a fact the I will not stop till I get 800 hp and a bit more tq can I build this on my own engine for less then 8k or so? How has the most power out of there stock block and what are the #'s? I know what I have to do to get it I have built v8 before but never a 4 banger I don't know the end's and out's of talons yet but I want to learn  I fell in love with dsm when I saw my first talon a month or two ago and then I joined here and started finding out what I want and then last week I got my new best friend :talon: :D I have an greddy exhaust and a spoonsport intake so far but don't know should I mod mine out or buy a new engine

spoon sports intake huh?

you can easily build your own engine for less then 8k, but there no way in hell you will be able to build the engine and buy the mods to make 800hp for anything close to 8k...and where does this magical 800hp number come from?...i suggest you do alot of reading ad research before you buy anything. and look into a 6bolt swap whenever you do decide to build the motor

man 800hp, youd be psuhing the outer limits there, but you know what, its called a T88

I would run what you have in the car now. with that 7 bolt you have I wouldnt go above 400 Hp. Crank walk in an issue on the 7 bolt.
If I was going to have someone build me a motor it would be a 1g 6 bolt block form Fast Forward Conection (FFW) They build some of the sickest motors and CRYO every part. Give them a call if you plan on making some big power! :thumb:

Yes, I agree, go with the FFWD/BJ's built engine, those guys rock, I went there the other day and saw some of the sweetest things I have ever seen in my 30 years of life :thumb:

Check this out, these are the guys that built Shepards motors, yea, that speaks for itself.

But hell untill then, add a fuel pump and a mbc and crank it up, even throw on a bigger turbo untill your 7 bolt gives, then get the 6 bolt.

gritsak spoon sports intake huh? ...and where does this magical 800hp number come from?
Ah.... yes it is but I want to buy a bigger one but am waiting because I don't want to drop any more money if I am going to get a race engine. And 800 because I had a 91 mustang Lx with a nice 347 with someware around 600hp so I want more

ah who you guys kidding, all he needs is a BIG t77 and NAWSSSSS.

nah for real though, 8grand for 800hp is unreachable. i mean, youll need a trans to transfer that power, and thats like 2.5grand right there, leaving you with 5.5 grand for a fully built motor plus turbo and all supporting mods.... this isnt an F-body, it takes a little more money.

I'm guessing you're in Whidbey, right? Well, I think you prolly shoulda just kept the stang and given cartech, pro turbo kits, or someone like that a call. Would've been alot easier/cheaper being that you were almost there. These guys are right, though. 800 for 8k isn't realistic...unless you want it for just one run down the track...if even that.
