R s not R and redlines when reved

My clutch went out a while back and after pulling the trans. it ended up being just a bad TOB. So i changed the TOB and now i got a few new problems. First is that i had idle surge before the clutch problem so i checked the base idle screw and it was good so i put it back in turned it out 2 times and when i started the car it ran at almost 3k but i remembered i set my MAFT up so i changed that and it started to go down and got to about 12-1300, but i tried reving it alittle and the throttle body stuck and it redlined, but idle is probably good. If i rev it just alittle bit it woulded do it but if i get it to far it goes up to red line. I let off and moved the shifter around in neutral and it stopped, it had bounced a few times off limiter, but i think it is because i cleaned the throttle body for the idle surge. Taped the bottom got some carb cleaner and cleaned it, it was pretty dirty. What could be doing this? My other problem is that my car goes into gear but R is not R. Maybe i got somthing wrong with the shifter cables but what? I'm not sure if any other gear is wrong cause i stoped working on it when it redlined and all i know is every gear i tried i went forward, and i was in a garage so i didnt go but a few inches. Only other thing i could think of is i broke the reverse light switch conector when puting the trans back in but i dont think that could be it. the metal prongs were still there so i taped it to the connector but not sure if it works. Clutch does work good now though, . Any help would be great, Thanks>

First you need to fix the throttle body so it doesnt stick. That is deffenitly very important disconnect the throttle cable off of the throttle body and move the butterfly with your hand to make sure it moves smoothly from wide open to closed. Then check the cable to make sure there is no kinks and the cable moves smoothly in and out. After that I would recomend adjusting the Idle air screw/biss screw. Go to vfaq and it explains how the whole process of adjusting it properly. You also might want to check the throttle position sensor just so you know that it is all set up properly too. As far as your car not going into reverse. If reverse worked before you took the trans off then most likely you just need to adjust the shift cables. How you said the car is moving forward in all gears, you might think you have it in reverse but in reality it might be in 4th due to the cables being out of adjustment. Once I had a hard time getting my car into reverse and 5th. So i adjusted the cable that controlled side to side movement on the shifter. After that i havent had any problem since. Hope this helps.
