ah, dont give up on it without giving it a good look though, it could be something simple, but i do feel your pain, but if you left it on the bridge, and it was an intercooler pipe or something, you'd prob regret it.

I feel your pain bro. DSM problems are really a PITA. They come and go without warning.

2 thing's to check.

Intercooler pipings
and
spark plug wire connection's or the transistor pack.

My car has been on a flatbed more times than I can remember just in the 2 years I've had it haha. You gotta stick with it man, it's well worth it in the end. Unless you're looking for a luxury car that never breaks, then maybe it is time to get rid of it.:dsm:

Sorry to hear about that. Good thing you didn't just leave it there, you at least have that new clutch.

my car just blew up last night. my 7 bolt is toast. i know exactly what you mean but dont give up.
i care about my car so much i told them it was an awd so they would bring a flat bed. LOL
its FWD

So, what's the deal "notcool"? How long have you owned this vehicle? Do you have any idea of what it could be?

As others have said, it might just be a loose hose or maf plug => no damage. Or you could have driven without oil or too much boost or anything that would be one of the things that you do not do and blown the engine. Don't give up over a hose, though... Unless you just feel like donating it to someone that might really be interested in wrenching on a car.

I've had the car for a little over 2 months. I checked the intercooler hoses and nothing popped off at all..the clamps are still all tight. Spark plugs look good as well. My oil levels were definitely good though, and I haven't been boosting the car lately because the past 3 weeks my clutch was slipping so it wouldn't go into boost. Then yesterday was my first day on the new clutch so I was taking it easy. I'm wondering if maybe it could be an axle shaft? I'm just really upset because the car is just amazing on paper. Only 86,000 original miles..4,000 miles on new engine, 6,000 on TRE tranny, 4,000 on the turbo..everything is literally brand new. Now the clutch only has about 45 miles. I don't want to give up on it because it's such a fun car and I know once I get all of the kinks worked out I won't regret it. I just think the previous owner wasn't up front with me about some of the things wrong with it. And I didn't know what to look for. My fault I guess.

If it is an axle I could give you a deal. I work at a parts warehouse in Bellevue.

hehe, hook up!!!!

i've got a 1g and a 2g, i was gonna sell the 1g-gs but i can't bring myself to let it go, 186000 miles on original engine, and i'm just now starting to have problems (random stalling, tire rods, you name it, it's breaking), but i know how expensive and frustrating it is, keep with it, i'm sure you'll find it, once you figure it out, enjoy that freakin sweat clutch.

hey thanks man, that's really awesome of you. when i figure out the problem and it is in fact an axle then i'll get ahold of you. i appreciate it a lot.

Not to bring down your spirits or anything, but I doubt it's an axle. If it was an axle I doubt the car wouldn't stay running in neutral without your foot on the throttle. My best guess would be IC coupler that popped off, but since you said you checked that, maybe your MAS is bad?

that sucks dude but hey, if it makes you feel any better i have owned my talon for about 5 years now and within those 5 years i only got to drive it for 2 weeks... i bought it broken, i fixed it, drove it, then broke, and now its almost ready to come out and play again. Hopefully by next week :D

... then it will probably go back to broken again :toobad:

Then stop crying and sell it, move on.

as someone said, only the strong survive, dsms are really not for everybody

goodbye

You guys are sooo nice :)

I agree tho, if you can't handle wrenching and having to deal with issues, just get something else.

Also, ANY seriously modified car that is remotely old will have issues. ALOT of communities (like supra guys) never post about their problems online because they want to contribute to the myth that their cars never break + they have $ so when shit breaks, they just take it to the shop directly, no need to post and diagnose.

So although people think OMG, dsms are so bad, ALL cars break. My buddy's singled mk4 supra went thru 2 engines in less than 6 months, he gave up and sold it, now he has an s4 tt with just exhaust and mild mods.

Your best bet is to sell it, get a relatively new turbo car (wrx/sti for example), throw an exhaust and a bov and be done, otherwise shit will break as well.

Going really fast in an economy car is NOT for everybody.

With that said, sounds like you already have all the big things covered/built/replaced, but it's the little things that will bite you. Having a car with a built motor, built trans and fresh turbo does not mean it aint gonna break. Those are just the big things...

Good luck!

Well the time has come, kind of early at the age of 19, but in my situation and my budget i cannot keep on with my dsm hobby. I had planned to keep the car for quite sometime but unfortunately i had a little accident the 28th of may and only owned the car for 6 months :( . I am using this opening chance to now get me something more practical for everyday life and less headaches. I will be purchasing a 01-03 nissan maxima se auto. I really will miss the racing scene and the dsm's and all the fun in them but life moves on and it's my chance to move on to better things and start school again, you all know the drill... LOL. I wish you all still in the dsm game good luck with all your cars and thanks for the help you guys provided to me in the past with my past dsm's. I will come by here to visit still and see what's crackin' hehe. Well farewell to all you guys, see you peeps around in the forums.
