I currently have a Buschur 2.5" turboback exhaust... I have both a free flow cat and a test pipe but the cat is somewhat quieter so thats whats in there right now.

Its been about 2 years since the install and Im getting sick of the drony loud exhaust tone. I like it at idle but going on trips sucks ass, especially with the GF.

Ive been looking to cut off the muffler and weld something quieter on, but I do not have experience with any other ones. I am maybe looking for the quietest aftermarket free flowing muffler there is, or close to it.

Some brands Ive beenb checking have been apexi N1, Borla, Blitz, HKS, thermal, etc. I reallly dont like the canister look of the HKS or the apexi just becuase the tip kinda mixes with the can. I like muffler and then tip but whatever is quiet and shiny will work for me.

Any suggestions would be awesome.

Thanks,
Peter

Magnaflow mufflers are pretty quiet and still flow decently.

Ive heard the magnaflow is loud, and Ive heard the N1 isnt too loud but I dont know... Basically what is a little louder than stock that flows?

The buschur uses a dynomax ultraflow SS muffler which is pretty much the same as a magnaflow so I wont got that route again.

Also I read that link about all the mufflers out there. No one says anything about which one is the quietest that is why I made a new thread. People just say this one is throaty and all that nonsense. You cant tell what they sound like from words.

I'm in practically the same situation. I have a 2.5" turbo-back exhaust w/ high flow cat from Extreme Motorsports. It drones on long trips as well. I'm looking to get something else to quiet things down a little. It's not that it's all that loud, it's that it is annoying for a daily driver. The local muffler shop said that a resonator wouldn't help, since the exhaust is so damn straight and the muffler does little to nothing.

I'm trying to get an Apexi World Sport exhaust system, but they don't make them for the turbo DSM's anymore. You can find the World Sport muffler on eBay, and then you'd have to fab your own piping.

Apexi just came out with a new tunable exhuast. Its really cool. It has a valve that gets forced open under mid to wot. Says its very quiet at idle and bearable driving around town at mid throttle. I'll look for the magazine article.

I'm going to suggest going with a magnaflow muffler because that's what I have,........and it's not loud at all. ...........another good thing is that it looks stock if you go with the dual tip.

See my post above.....

Ok its the PS Revolution.
"the patented valve system is engaged and disengaged upon ehuast gas pressure"
"new muffler design allows high powered street cars to mantain tolerable, and legal, exhuast note at idle and light throttle accleration while completely disengaging during high throttle, high load situations." (wot)"Never before has a cylinder type exhuast seamlessy fused the streetability of a stock exhuast system and the performance of a low restriction racing exhuast. "

I'll try to scan the article and post it with the pics.

I could only imagine how much that would cost.

So let me get this straight. They made an exhaust that is restrictive because of a flapper, THEN the engine has to work in order to over come this flapper and flow freely?! Right.

If you want the best of both worlds buy an electric cut out. That way you are quiet around town and loud as shit when you want it. It would be a fraction of the cost too!
