Quick question regarding engine service soon light

Hey guys. My engine service soon light just came on, and I can't go until tommorow or possibly later to get it checked out by the gas station. I have a 99 Eclipse GS 5 spd, and I wanted to know what are some common causes for the engine light to come on? Sorry, I am just freaking out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot for your help guys

it can be anything from gas cap not on good enough to your motor has somthing major wrong with it.

A sensor has returned an out-of-range value to the ECU.
You're no longer in Chevy Hell. Learn "Check Engine Light", or simply "CEL".
