Ok guys i have a real quick question hear i've recently been doing all the free mod stuff to my dsm and have a question about removing the vacum lines from the trottle body, for the past couple days i've been cleaning up the engine bay and installing all my new go fast goodies and ran across the thing about removing the vaccum lines.\

I would like to do this to maybe clean up the engine bay alittle and get some clutter out of it .

My question is has anybody on hear done this mod and have they had in side effects from it, and also since mainly the vaccum lines are for emmision will i have to worry about my check engine light coming on or will this mod not effect it. Nebraska doesn't have emmision testing at all so i don't car about the car having to pass it. Any help would be great guys.

If you decide to pull the vacuum lines except for the brake booster, FPR and BOV, the following thread has the diagrams on how the new setup looks:

In doing so, you'll either need to fab or buy an EGR blockoff plate. Since the EGR adds NOX to the intake air charge, which has a slight cooling effect, you may see a bit more knock. I didn't see a difference when I removed mine but others have. As far as the CEL, I believe that only trips on ECU's set for California emissions specs and not the federal.

FYI, blockoff plates can be purchased from:

http://www.jmfabrications.com or
http://www.dejonpowerhouse.com

You can also make your own, but you'll need shorter bolts than the stockers since the plate is much thinner than the EGR you're removing.

Hope that helps,

Andy

for the egr blockoff you can also just use a small piece of sheetmetal or layered soda can instead of the gasket. Put the metal between the valve and the intake manifold.

Yep, you can do that too, but you'll need to plug the EGR lines. I opted to remove it entirely and do a clean setup, but it's not like people can really see the EGR unless they're looking for it.
