quick question about hood dampers

could be that the newest 1g is 18 years old and they didnt sell enough to make it worth wile to continue making them for a car that most people complain when they cant get parts for pennies.

It could also be that the 1g has no provisions for hood struts stock. the hood is missing the threaded holes to properly attach them. Where hood struts are nice it requires a correctly set amount of force to have them work smoothly and not bounce the hood when they open or allow it to sag under the weight of the hood. One of the factors in this issue also might be the hood style change after only 2 years which would cause them to have to change the design and stock two different parts. where with the 2g cars all the hoods are the same.

This is likely the exact reason they don't offer them for the 1g.

Here are the struts installed on a 2g. You can see how truly simple of a setup it is. If you had just a simple drill press and maybe a tap and die set, it would take no more than an hour or two modify the 2g kit and install it.

However, like I already said, hood struts are kind of a huge waste of time and money. There are at least 20 things I can think of that would be a better use of nearly $200.
