Got some questions from me and my friends.
1) What is so bad about having a non-recirculable bov?
2) I have heard that its bad ( dont know why) but how come i see a bunch of setups with them?
3) Which bov is the loudest, yet safe to have on your car?
4) Up to how much is it safe to boost up (with turbo xs mbc) a pretty much stock (k&n intake filter, own made intake elbow, greddy tt, restritctor removal (have heard it gives u like 1-2psi), gov. speed limit removal) tsi fwd auto?

Thanks!:D

When your BOV recirculates the air back into the intake, the engine expects that air to be availible. If you simply vent the BOV to atmosphere, your engine won't get that air, but its dumb and doesn't know its missing, so it continues to operate as if it had that air. Your engine would have to much fuel.

It's not so much that non-reciculating your BOV is bad, its that there is a wrong way, and a correct way to do it.

If you want to do it right then...

You need a MAFT or GM MAF... There is plenty of info on them on this site...

A MAFT is actually just a translator for the GM MAF (hence the "T" at the end). GM MAFs are either 3" or 3.5". You can get them anywhere from eBay to the classifieds to www.DSMparts.com. The biggest benefit is more airflow for when you have a large turbo or major modifications to make use of more air. Other benefits include being able to properly vent your BOV to the atmosphere.

I don't know what would be the loadest...but

This site has a preview of different BOV Sounds... http://blowoffvalves.com/

All thse answers could have been answer thru searching but I will answer your questions.

1. If you vent your releasing air that you car has already accounted for so you will be running rich; because you now you have less air and more fuel. This will cause numerous problems, idle problems, stalling problems, etc....

2. You see alot of people doing it, because they are doing it correctly. They are using GM MAF + MAFT; which allows you to vent without any effect.

3. Well since you want to recirculate, I would get a greddy type-s, 1g bov, or HSK SSQV.

4. With no mods, I would say 12 psi.

Hopes this helps, Stay boostin

i got my boost set at 13psi with joe p mbc

mods include 3" dp, 3" exhaust, k&n fipk, ngk plugs/wires, uicp. plan on setting boost at 16-17psi when i go to track and 13psi for reg. driving.

launching the automatic at 3k and boosting 10psi off the launch also.. LOL checked it tonite

So if I get DSMLINK or ECU+, I'm guessing I'll be able to vent with my BOV, since those programs probably lets you control the air, etc?
