Hey guys, I am currently trying to decide on a fuel management system. Limited to my costs, plus my actual needs, All i need would be a AFC or MAFT. Now i just have to choose between the two. I think I am leaning towards the MAFT. And i was looking for advice or tips on what to go for. I've searched and learned, and read on the MAFT board too, but if you could give me insight or more links it'd be helpful.

I want the MAFT because, its a bit cheaper then a SAFC. Cost is always nice ;) But also because of eliminating my crappy 1G MAF/Aircan with a nice blow-thru MAF. The loss of restriction would be good. And I'd get a tuning device along it.
There are a few things that concern me with the MAFT though.

One is ease of tuning. Anyone here have any experiences with tuning you fuel with it? I read on the other board about how-to tune with it and set it up, looks easy enough to tune, but i don't know if its as intuitive as a SAFC, or is more guessing involved?

And another thing is installing the GM MAF. I already have IC pipes from dejontool so....I don't want to have to buy all new UICP for the thing. I mean I could sell mine and buy the dejon blow thru pipes, but i'd still be buying all new pipes just for this thing. I was thinking I could cut the piping where the GM MAF would fit and bead the ends for couplers, but I'm not sure if i would do that or buy new ones. Thats like $180 from Dejon for the blow thru i think.

Just want any advice opinions on what you guys have done/ your experiences especially if you have used both for tuning and could compare. Thanks!!!

Oh and one more, does it matter if one installs the GM MAF on the intake pipe to the turbo or on the IC pipe before the TB?? I didnt know if air temps would make a difference, since the air at the IC pipe was hotter? Cause i was thinking I could put it there until i can figure out if i can cut the pipes to make it fit.

You don't really need the SAFC with the MAFT.

You can install it in either location, no problem.

people usually like to run the maft with some other type fuel controller i.e. safc, dsmlink, etc. and leave the maft at baseline levels like myself because the translator by itself does not offer as fine adjustments as the others. I use the dsm link and I can vent with absolutely no problems and the maft has less intake restriction. But if cost is an issue you CAN tune the gmmaft without any other controllers. Just my 2 cents
