I am putting in my 6bolt and am also doing the clutch / flywheel while im there. I read roadracings page and it said to sure the step right in the fly wheel is .610. My question is, since i bought a fidanza flywheel with the act 2100, do i need to take it to a machine shop or will it come like that? Iorry for the noob question, i havent really messed with clutches to much.

Id like to know this too. I found out 1 day too late that my local machine shop has the proper tools to measure and cut the correct step in a flywheel. Im dropping in a fresh motor and tre trans with Fidanza flywheel an my 4000mi old act 2600 and im worried if the step height is correct or not. I dont want to drop all this in the car to have to pull the trans again to check the step height on my flywheel because it doesnt hold power.

Anybody every measure their fidanza's out of the box?
My mechanic said he hasnt had problems with installing them before with 2600's. But a friend of mine said his wasnt machined flat in his car and had trouble holding power and it warped the disc slightly on one side. However, im pretty sure he wasnt using an act clutch, so it could have needed a different step height.

The "step" is the same on all turbo DSM clutches (6 bolt, 7 bolt, AWD or FWD is irrelevant).

.610 is a "stock step" so most properly made DSM FWs will do. The reason why this is an important thing to state, is because when a machine shop is cutting your FW, they will have an opportunity to set what-ever step they want. And if they do not know what it is supposed to be, they can screw it up.

Your Fidenza should be fine. But I always recommend that people check, just to be sure. It is much easier to deal with this problem BEFORE you install the tranny...

Also, +/- .003", should be OK.
