Question of Valve Ticking

I was wondering, when I first start my car up and let it warm up and all of that good stuff in the morning and after its warm and I start to drive it, I hear what I think is the valves ticking up until 2000 rpm then is stops. Is anyone else only getting the ticking valves at this time?

Its most likely your lifters.. in the tech articles theres a post how to help/cure it

Yea, I read about the cures, but I just wanted to double check. And about the Lucas Oil Stablizer, I heard all it does is makes the oil thicker and it goops up the internals, but that's just one thing I heard.

Well it helped alot for my freind jesse and I mine's gone and his is minimum and we dont have problems with the internals and or drive conditions

Especially in SF's weather, the car will be happier warming-up while moving. That way, it warms the gearboxes and wheel bearings along with the engine oil. DSMs warm up in the space of about two miles of easy driving.
Of course, if you're up by Sutro Forest or one of the other steep spots, this may be less applicable.

But yes, that's routine valve tick behaviour. You might try a can of RESTORE. For reasons I can't divine, DSMs like that stuff.

I have noticed that Synthetic oil tends to make engines tick louder than petrolem based. You could try running a thicker weight. But some products are good (lucas, valve tick oil they sell at advanced, and restore).

I had recently done a oil change and I usually use 10w-40 oil and when I was done, I went through the service manual and stumbled upon the page that has recommended oil for certain temp ranges, and it said for 0 degrees and above, to use 20W-40. So I'll try that when I'm due for a oil change and let you know how it goes as far as the ticking. Another thing that a friend of mine suggested that I do to eliminate the ticking was to adjust the valves. I'm not sure of my bro who gave me the car had ever done it so when I get a chance, I'll try that too.

20w-40 that is pritty thick oil isnt it? i dont know i would like to run that when it is cold out.
