The 1990 I bought recently wasn't building anymore than 6 pounds of boost so after a boost leak test, I saw that the large snap-ring on the back of the turbo was off just hanging there. After pulling the turbo off the car, I took the centersection off the compressor housing and found out the o-ring was in many pieces. I went to a rubber and gasket store and had one made up. One of my questions is does the o-ring sit in the groove on the compressor housing or the centersection and if so on the centersection, does it fit all the way inside the groove or does the edge of the o-ring sit outside the groove at all? I had a o-ring that is a little bit wider than the groove installed now and it seems like the centersection will not sit all the way down into the compressor housing.
Last question, does the large snapring fit inside a groove on the compressor housing or does it just snap inside the housing? Reason I ask is because I can't get the centersection pushed in far enough to snap it in the outer most groove. This is my first time with a turbo apart so excuse my bad terminology.
