I was going to buy one of those EVO 3 16G GT turbo's but recently I read a thread on here about these not being real MHI turbo's.

I emailed Buchur Racing and asked why they switched these and they replied that these turbos are the same quality and even made by the same company that makes them for Mitsubishi.

Is there any truth to this? I guess I thought these turbo's were cheap knock off's.

They told me they offer a 12 month, 12,000 mile warrenty on these turbo's too. How hard is it to get Buchur to warrenty a turbo if one fails? Is there anything special I need to do like buy new oil lines to make sure the warrenty is intact. Can anyone think of any other questions I need to ask before concidering buying this turbo?

The turbo is such a good price and I wanted it ported and the flapper upgraded anyway.

Thanks guys.

All I can say is good luck finding a place with one in stock. I have looked everywhere. I ordered one of these last friday from buschur. They arent expecting to get anymore in until next week.

Seem finding places who have the GT in stock isn't the problem. Its finding places with the REAL EVO 3 at a good price thats proven a challange.

I decided againest this GT turbo after talking to a few vendors on the phone and reading various threads.

Seem these GT turbo's are not real EVO 3 turbo's. Orignally they even fooled the vendors and they thought it was a real EVO 3 with a new housing. Seems the whole turbo is a copy of the real EVO 3 and made in china for like $220 dollars. I spoke to one of the guys over at SBR and he said they can buy them for around $220 all day long and they are not real EVO 3 turbo's and not even made by the same people who make them for MHI. Just counterfeit copies basicly.

Maybe they are good turbo's. Maybe no one will have issues but I dont want to chance it on my car so I decided to get a real EVO 3 turbo and pay extra to have it ported out with a 34mm flapper if needed.

Good luck with your GT turbo though. Be curious to hear how its holding up a year or so from now if you want to let me know :)
