I plan on getting the stage 1 chip from dsmchips.com. The only option I plan to utilize is the no fuel cut.

Has anyone else gone this exact route?

Also, is it safe doing this? It seems strange because its basically just taking away a stock engine safety feature. I dont know, maybe I don't have a strong enough understanding. Could someone clear this up for me.

If that's the only feature, you'll probably be safer getting injectors/fuel pump and leaning it out some. That's the safest way to eliminate fuel cut, plus your MAFT box has a dipswitch where you can raise the fuel-cut limit.

I have the stage 3 with no fuel cut. I havent had any problems with it. I also use a logger and keep a close eye on my boost gauge just to make sure nothing stupid happens.

The MAFT doesn't have the switch anymore, and if you have one of the older versions you shouldn't use the switch. The MAFT's fuel cut "feature," like a FCD, is just an airflow cap; not a good idea.

That chip is fine. I would go for it. It's a better way to get rid of fuel cut than reducing the airflow signal with a SAFC. Which do you think is safer, lying to your ECU, or letting it do what it is supposed to and just removing a part of the code that you don't need?

Think about it this way: how is fuel cut a safety feature? The second you start modding one of these cars, you could easily blow it up in a very short amount of time without ever running into fuel cut. It's pretty easy to damage a motor without flowing a certain amount of air.

I sent my ecu to Jeff O at dsmchips.com and he repaired it and socketed it for me. I dont think he offers this service anymore but he will send you a socket and any local computer repair or electronics repair shop can solder it in for you.

Just got to add a little bump for Jeff...
Simply put ..
Great communication, great effort to help, great product.
Mine is on the way!!!!!! ;)
