question about my 96 gst sypder

I have a black on black 96 gst sypder i got a year ago with mods. It has about 98K miles on it. A while back i lost the power from my turbo, and every time its at about 3k rpm, there is this loud sucking sound... like its sucking empty air. I figured my turbo is out because i have lost a good amount of power, then after like a week, at a stop light it fixed itself... and 3 weeks after that it went out again. Is that normal? and does that mean the turbo is out?? This car has been causing me some problems, and just recently got the master and slave cylinder replaced. The check engine light came on for some reason too. I guess the question is do you think i should put some money into it fix it up? or should i just sell it... and what do u think i can get for it. If you think this car is worth fixing up... do you know anyone around the chicago area who is really good with DSM cars that will do a lot of work for much cheaper than dealer price..... sorry to sound like a newb but i am.. thanks

Suggestion: This not really a spyder question it's a turbo question. Try to be more specific and descriptive with your thread titles and you will get more response.

It sounds to me like a large boost leak though I don't know how it would fix itself, unless your bov was stuck or something. There's a very nice new tech article for a boost leak tester.
