Question about ETD J pipe and Gasket

Exactly what he said, use the right stuff and it'll seal up fine.

Thanks fellas! What about drilling a hole for a boost source for my MBC?

Id rather get a nipple welded, but im sure if you drill/tap the hole to accept a 1/8 NPT fitting and use plenty of teflon tape... you should be alright...

Again, this man speaks the truth.

Ok, I went over to the garage to test fit it and I'm running into a problem.

The problem is that the angle is too sharp so the FMIC pipe (punishment racing kit) rubs agianst the motor mount and is very very close to the wastegate arm.

Has anyone else ran into this problem? I almost want to try to bend it out an inch to get the clearance.

Thats the problem with J-Pipes that i hate, they're such a pain!!

What you could do is take the pipe to an exhaust shop and have them bend it for you, you could bend it yourself as well just make sure to not kink it or create any sharp turns...

okay, I have to get a tab welded on my FMIC and I thought that I could take it to the same guy have him cut it and reweld it to give me a better angle.

I got the same J pipe, Same issue. This J pipe works better in 2gs.

I just an inch or two off the end of my pipe. That allowed me to run the j pipe and rest of the piping resting on the motor mount. Defiantly not happy with the setup. Gonna hock it for a Dejon Tool J pipe.

As for the gasket, Don't use it. It's like an exhaust gasket and will crumble when you tighten it down. I wouldn't wonna suck that crap into my motor. Use RTV, Or get a honing stone and sand the flange flat. Use an OEM gasket.

But honestly, Hock that peice and get a Dejon J pipe.

Defiantly not happy with it. Need to get a slim fan and Dejon pipe.

why would it matter what Gen it is? hell it's just a 16g.

Because motor mounts are different on 1g's and 2g's. On a 1g the motor mount is right where the j pipe hooks. On a 2g the motor mount is on the trans and isn't in the way.

I believe the Dejon pipe would work best in MY application. Do some research your self before you go out and buy it. I'd hate to make you spend $80 on something that wouldn't help you.

Quote from Dejons site
"If you have a stock 14b turbo or upgraded to a 16g you'll need an outlet elbow to connect to the lower IC pipe shown above. The "J" pipe is for the 14b or 16G and bends down to discharge at the same location as a 20g or T3/T4. It's made from 1 3/4" tubing expanded at the end as desired. Pick 2" to fit LIP-1gC"

Discharge at the same location as a 20g, Which is what my Buschur racing piping is designed for. Who made your piping kit?
