I will get the same Computer just for DSMlink. It will fit in the glove box so no one can see it.

The only thing you have to do is either get an external CD drive plug it into the computer and upload the dsmlink or Go to dsmlink site and download it from the site and you good to go!

I think that would be a great little Computer to use.

EDIT: Damn it greyspyder! I was too slow

I'd recommend the Acer one, it's awsome! Don't leave it in the glove box (I live in Miami Florida) it will fail ASAP. LO:nono::nono::nono::nono:

well I didn't mean at all times! LOL

Like when I go to the strip and after I run and mess with the tune then no one will see it lock the glove box up and car and off to watch the ricers

Does the laptop always need to be connected? Or is it only if you want to change the ECU settings? Because I am not comfortable leaving a laptop in my car 24-7.

And I'm definitely buying that laptop if I get link.

No, the PC only needs to be used during set up of DSMlink and tuning (changing ECU settings). It does NOT have to be running or connected otherwise.

I ocassionally run the PC or even just the Palm III just to monitor for knock, temp, etc. but its not necessary. Considering getting a very small netbook to replace the Palm as well and have looked at the ACER - seems perfect for this application.

You will love DSMLINK BTW, the community user support at the dsmlink boards is worth the price alone in getting and keeping the car tuned right.

They had, no lie, the acer one at tiger direct for $250, it was recertified, but who cares?! Recert = checked twice (maybe a ding but hardly ever). I'm waiting on the 3g one to come out w/o the need for a plan. 3g internet on a 8.9in netbook... so sexy. :hellyeah:

You can also "share" a CD drive from a networked computer. So if you have a home network or know someone who does, they can share a CD drive from one of their computers and you can load it that way.

But, the internet is the easiest option.

U could do that, but when you're out, you're stuck. Investing in a slim USB cdrom or dvd(get with the timesROFL) is worth every penny.:hmm:

If you're "out" you aren't "stuck" because you weren't a mouth-breather to begin with and loaded the program BEFORE leaving the house.

:rolleyes::toobad::rolleyes:

Edit: Why is this in "Appearance"?
