Question about AWD DSM

Hey guys,im thinking to sell my 1990 eclipse GS-Turbo,and buy a 2g GS-X .and i want to get the GS-X for a cheap price.

My question is:

what im suposed to do? i mean which way is cheaper. to do an engine swap (my 1g eclipses) to a 2g Shell or buy all GS-X???

Even if you just swap the motors unless you have a gsx shell to swap it into it's not going to be AWD. I think it'd be easier to just buy a GSX cause if not you would have to salvage all the AWD parts and that just seems like too much work when you could just buy one.

I would say just find a cheap gsx with everything, because you will still need the tranny, X-fer case and plenty of other junk that a shell will probably not have. And then just keep your car to use the motor. I would say the other way would probably just be a headache if you dont have the cash to order whatever you need when you find out its missing.

Don't go with a 2G... Stick with a 1G & it will be a lot cheaper off the get go. Plus with the right 1G, you'll already have a 6 bolt motor. If you're lucky & get the right 92, then you'll have the 6bolt/4bolt setup. Even if you get a 1G with a 3bolt rear, it will only be about $300 - $400 for a 4bolt & you're gonna be plenty happy with it. Get a 1G AWD!!! The parts are easy to come by & small mods can go a long way.

Hrmmm, I was under the impression that all 1g turbo engines were 6 bolt......., anyway, you want a 2g GSX. I agree that you should get one with everything, finding parts can be a PITA. Anyone ever try and find an intermediate shaft at a salvage yard for example? So then I, in your shoes, would make a mixture of the best of both parts for the 2g. Yank that 7 bolt timebomb outta there first. I believe the 2g pistons have a higher CR. If that is the case then slap them in the 6 bolt and drop that bad boy in. I'm sure that there is a thread on the subject. I can't think of anything else other that I know of, but I'm just a noob here and still learning, so if anybody has relevant info, please correct me if necessary! Anyway then you could sell the 1g chassis and scrap that 7 bolt to the junkers. Keep in mind, this is what I would do. Listen to others that know better if they respond.

No...89-91 or if you are REALLLLLY lucky an early 92. like about 3 months into 92 they switched over to 7 bolts. but all 1g's still have a 14b turbo.
I have a 93 with a 7-bolt but a nice 4-bolt rear end
