I have a 97 GST AT that my gf drives. One night she said she was running the car pretty hard, and the car had problems taking off. I drove it today and it seems like something is dragging, or holding the car back a bit. I took it to get looked at Mitsu dealer, and it checked out ok. But I know its not ok, cuz it makes a weird noise and it does'nt pull anymore like it used to. And now my belts are making all sorts of noise.I called them back, and they said it might be a tranny issue, but it shifts fine to me, just lags a lot at take off, and it makes a houling(sorry on spelling) noise. Any ideas on what it could be???? How much do trannys cost or rebuild?

I had the tranny looked at, taken apart and put back together. And its not the tranny, on the way back form the shop the car was still acting funny, and it started to blow smoke, lots of grey smoke. So now it might be the turbo from what I'm gathering.

it could be something wrong with the belt or the belt pulley. if there is something wrong with the belt rotation you can lose torque. ever tried turning on your AC when launching out?
