Hi guys, one of my friends has just bought a 2g earlier gsx(i don't know if it's a 95 or a 96 but this is not a problem) and he's looking for make a swap with 1g gsx engine.........ok, he know whats he got to do because he has just do a swap but we got a question about the difference between 1g & 2g engine block.
We wanna know if the only one difference is just the head or if also pistons, and the other internals are different and in this case better than the one in the 2gen, because he don't know if make only an head swap, or sawapping all the engine block.
If there are some other differences can you wrote down in this thread please.
thanks a lot

I'm not sure if this is the right section for this post, let me now if the thread will be moved :thumb:

Go to the Visual Frequently Asked Questions archive, click on the "Engine" tab and check out the "Installing a 1G engine in a 2G" article, if you haven't done so already.

We just read these article and also RRE articles about this, but is hard for us that don't live in the us(and for that don't know english very good) find the differences between this two engine, so i asked here if somebody can help us :thumb:

1gs have lower compression, a better flowing head / intake manifold, and a 6 bolt crank. The main caps are split up into 3 seperate ones in a 1g ... in a 2g there is 1 main girdle. You basically just build up a 6 bolt and install a 2g motor mount ... then drop it in the car. You need a 6 bolt flywheel and you have to rewire the CAS.
