Hey guys, I am finally getting all the nuts/bolts ready for a 7 blade Hx 35 install. Im running a twin scroll mani with dual gates and the stock 12cm Holset housing. Now it would be sweet if I had the v band housing but I dont. I have the 5 bolt housing. I have the turbo/downpipe flange that bolts to it, and as of now I have cut off the pipe that was on there and grinded it down flat.
I was originally going to just weld a pipe onto the flange but after I was thinking about it for awhile, if I ever had to remove the o2 housing then I would have to take those 5 bolts off and whatnot. I am now thinking about welding a vband flange to this 5 bolt flange I have, so I could have a vband connection right there at the end of the turbo. I do know this can be acheived with a vband housing, but I dont want to fork out 250 for the housing.
I like this idea, and would like some opinions as well. Also, I am a novice welder. I know the flange is cast iron. Would it be easier to weld a stainless steel vband or a mild steel vband to this flange? How difficult will this be, and if there is anyone interested in doing this for me please pm me. Thanks, Chris
