2G quarter panel exhaust exit

hey guys, was curious to see if anyone has attempted to dump the exhaust out of the quarter panel (side skirt) and how much of the body inside has to be cut away. the reason id like to give this a try is because i seen only one or two eclipses with this setup and i like the look of it, its different. i plan on putting a cutout on the bend in front of the fuel tank so i can have it go to the rear to make it a little quieter. i have a full apexi n1 exhaust by the way. any input is much appreciated

If your going to run a cutout, I could not see anything justifying cutting a hole in your rocker/quarter panel to plumb the exhaust out of it, but to each his own. A lot of people look at things for the future run, if something happens to the car and you ever sell it, who is going to want one with a hole in the rocker/quarter because someone wanted to dump an exhaust out of it. It would be worthless IMHO.

I agree, if you are going with a cutout, might as well just have it dump underneath the car instead of cut up the body.

I kind of understand where he's coming from, if you do decide to do it use some quality head shielding between the exhaust and your body as cutting it that close can cause some serious melting issues and funny smells to go with it.

I contemplated doing this on my camaro, and have ended up just doing 45 degree downturns at the rear axle.. dual 3" mufflers and tips don't play well with ground clearance. It would be unique to see on any import but generally it's a muscle car thing.. and even most of them don't pull it off very well.

I say if you wanna try it go for it, doesn't hurt to try, might hurt your resale value. but at least you're informed going in.

Thanks guys. Yeah I'm aware of the resale value but I just wanna do something different. Im not worried about the resale value cause I don't think I'm gonna sell her anywhere in the near future but things Change and emergencies happen so you all make a good point I think I'll just put a cut out underneath to help with ground clearance as well. I have seen it done on this site. The only thing I didn't like about his setup was that the pipe was welded with a 90* bend at the end just before it dumped out the side skirt.

There was a 2g gsx in the last pages of a modified mag, i believe around 2006-07, that was a straight up track car with a 1/4 panel exit exhaust. I cannot remember the name of the club that ran it, or find the pic in my mag stash, but if i find it ill post it up.

It looks cool, but other than that i see little point to it.
