I got a spare fan that I'm thinking of putting behind the fmic, either facing towards the radiator or towards the fmic.

Any comments welcome.

I would say put the fan facing towards the radiator. The FMIC is already getting plenty of cold air, but it is blocking the radiator more now so I would say give the radiator a little bit more air.

yea i have an extra one around myself, and a pretty big intercooler, do you guys think it will help prevent overheating??

If you have a slimline fan, those are pretty powerful. but if its just an extra oem radiator or A/C fan, it won't "push" air through as powerfully as "pulling" air through. It definitely wouldn't hurt anything except maybe a slight voltage draw, but I don't think it would make much difference in cooling efficiency.

I say this because we tested this on my car. I had 4 fans, 2 in the stock position PULLING, and 2 between the radiator and fmic PUSHING. When I took them all out except for the original radiator fan, there was a 5 degree difference in water temp. When we put the radiator and ac fan in their stock position, there was no difference at all from having 4 fans. These were all done in the same weather conditions and the same driving for a while(tuning) and then stopping and idling for a few minutes.

Just my 2 cents, I believe it wouldnt be worth it, but it wouldnt hurt either. now slimline fans might be a different story, as some can PUSH more cfms that OEM fans can PULL.

Waste of time.

You'll benefit more from properly ducting airflow rather than installing a fan.

Word...and if you mount it on the engine bay side pushing out it will just be pulling any hot air from the rad/engine bay and push it through the intercooler, reversing the actual point of the intercooler.

I get ya, what about putting the fan inside a cold air box? If there's one small enough but I'm sure you get the idea.

On my car i have the pass fan stock, and driver fan is a slimone.

Then i went and sealed up as best as i could the gap between the intercooler and radiator, and also cut the bumper cover to allow air to flow over 100% of the intercooler.

With the fans running, there is very good pull through the intercooler, enough to make a piece of paper stick flat to it.
