The rear (firewall side) lower bolt will not go in.
It feeds through the dowl in the engine block, and slides into the trans case but is not catching anything inside the case to tighten down.
Advise?
Suggestions?
Quess at this point?
Any have a parts car that can pull it and give me the deminsions? PLEASE? I am totally at a loss here now.
I have been fighting this thing for 2 days now.
And yes, I kept all the bolts, and the bottom front and the two top bolts go in fine.

As a last resort...
Does anyone have a Mitsu/Eagle part number for this bolt, the dealers are of no help and I cannot find it listed in the FSM, or on the DSM FSM CD page.

Bleuler? Anyone Bleuler?
Kinda need the help guys...
The parts guys at the dealers are stupid.

On my car its the same size as the bolt that holds the injector rail to the head..its smaller then all the others dunno if its the same for a 1g or not

Yes me too. Are you talking about the 8mm bolt that connects the engine to the trans? The lower firewall side trans bolt runs through a dowel pin for aligning the trans input shaft to the crank center line. It slides through the engine block and threads into the transmission.

YES (FINALLY) that is the bolt I am talking about...
Can someone tell me if it is a standard shank, or a thick shank, and the possible length?

Actually I can figure out the length, it just seems odd to me that it would have 2 differing threads at the same connection point...
That's why I started to think it was a dual thread bolt...
That is just F'd up IMO

Ok, I will run through the bolts tomarrow then...
I was really getting confused there...
I mean why have one thread, then go to another different sized one?...

Ok, now just need the cash to buy the cometic HG... and then this damn thing can get back togeather and running...

All right this may be a little difficult to explain, in words, but I will try.
With regards to the bolt in question. The bolt you need is a 8mm x 1.50 or 1.25 (sorry can't remember which off hand) and I think it is about 50 or 60mm long. The hole it slides through on the block (firewall side with the dowel pin) is also threaded for a 10mm x 1.5 or 1.25 bolt, the same thread as the rest of the trans bell housing bolts.

The configuration of the DSM trans does not allow this bolt to slide through the trans and thread into the block, like the other trans bolts. Instead this bolt slides through the block and threads into the trans. However there are some transmissions that will bolt up using the block threads on this hole, just not a DSM, Mitsubishi's way of covering all the possibilities, without having different block configurations.

I have seen the threads in the transmission for this 8mm bolt strip, and that generally requires the trans to be removed for proper repair.

Yes the major diameter of a 8mm x 1.5 or 1.25 thread is smaller in diameter than minor diameter of a 10mm x 1.5 or 1.25 thread.

I hope this helps somewhat.

it is 8X1.25 just like the head manifold bolts...
Again that just seems odd to me the way they did it.

Yes, that is it 8x1.25 They are the same thread as most of the other 8mm bolts on a DSM.
Sorry but I could not remember for sure, 8 X 1.5 is fairly common on other makes of cars. I guess that means that I work on too many cars!
