We installed a new tranny into my car yesterday and now the clutch is always engaged. I mean when the car was still off the ground the tires would spin slowly as if the cutch was being slipped in slowly and would ,make a tak tak tak sound. When I would press the clutch in all the way the sound would go away and the tires would stop spinning. Also when we were bleeding the clutch we couldn't pressurize it. the clutch does nothing untill almost the end. By the way its a 91 tranny in a 90. THANX for reading

The clutch should engage in neutral. The clutch should be engaged on the flywheel at all times when the clutch pedal isn't depressed.

The spinning of the tires is the transmission output shaft turning slowly - even in neutral, it'll move some, but it shouldn't be nearly enough to move the car when everything is together.

The sound you're describing sounds like a bad or improperly seated throwout bearing.

hey man, i had the same problem that you are having after i installed my act clutch on. we had up and the tires spun, and when we engaged gears, there was a clanking noise. in my scenario, the clutch line or spring going into my clutch was going bad, and was deeper in than it was supposed to be. and when we engaged gears, the clutch was not fully engaing due to that problem. two solutions; replace peice, or put washers between it. we used washers, and now everything is fine.
