Prothane Motor Mount Install Question

I bought a set of prothane motor mounts. My question is, i was told that the old motor mounts would have to be torched out. I did that, but there is a metal ring that was around it, that did not come out with the rubber part. I was thinking that it had to stay in there as it doesnt look like it will come out to easily. But when i put the motor mount in, it didnt fit. So could someone let me know what I am supposed to do, or how to get that ring out. THANKS!

the ring has to come out. either press it out or cut it out. one way is to slip a hacksaw blade through the hole then attach bade to handle and saw it out. just don't score the casing very much.
