Project Headlight Clean

Well had some time to kill, so I decided to try and clean up my headlights. They were yellowed pretty bad and seemed like they were not projecting light well.

looks good! I don't know how you did yours, but for mine, I wet sanded the lense up to 1500grit and then buffed it out then hand polished it with meguires plastix and finally put a few coats of wax on it. It has been almost a year and it still looks new.

Step one: Take scotch bright pad and scuff\sand lense from left to right, not up and down. Rinse with water and dry.

Step 2: Take 1500 grit sandpaper, and stick in margarine sized container with a drop of dish soap(acts as lubricant) put lid on and shake. Let soak for 20-30 mins. Wet sand 'till desired finish is achieved. If satisfied, clean with windex and call it done.

Step 3: If not satisfied take a polishing compound and shine lense, again from left to right.

The exact compound I used I am trying to find out, it was shipped to me in a separate package from the company that is doing all of my powder coating. I'll update with name of it when I find out.

I only used 1500 grit. You could use finer grit and work up to 1500 but, the way I did it worked flawlessly. It looks like it came right out of the factory!

Mini update, been a couple or so weeks since I did this, Lights are holding up good and look just as good!
