I can't get any of my 7 flywheel bolts off. I've broken 2 extension bars using a breaker bar, and my battery-powered or manual impact wrench will not budge them. First of all, are they right or left hand threaded..just to be sure. And does anyone have any hints before I totally destroy the hexes on the bolts.

Im not sure why you are having so many problems getting them off but to loosen, turn counterclockwise. To tighten, tur clockwise. If all else fails, find or rent a pnuematic impact wrench to do the job. Im sure you can find someone with one and a portable air compressor that will help you out.

Are they red loctited on? Sometimes red loctite needs to be heated to 400 degrees to soften the compound and remove the bolt. If you're not already, use only 1/2" extensions as 3/8" may just flex or break. Other than that, I don't know because when I put my flywheel on all of the bolts just zipped right off using my 1/2" impact.

Just go buy a canister of mapp gas and heat the bolts up. They'll come loose.

Amazing, but all it took was a little bit of heat and they came right off. I used a propane torch and heated up the heads, and used a cordless impact wrench to pull them out one at a time.

Im having the same problem and i didnt think about heating them up...i have a heat gun so im going to try that tomorrow.

Thanx for the tip

i dont think a heat gun will come anywhere close to doings what you need it to do. what you can also do, at least what i do is replace the fly bolts when im doin a clutch job. but i use a grinder and cut x's into them then a chissel and hammer and they slide on out.. thats for really stubbord pos's tho.
