Alright, so I posted awhile back about how the nut on the compressor wheel backed off when the car lost oil pressure and caused the turbo to seize. Well, I took the turbo off and tightened the nut down and it seemed brand new. No shaft play whatsoever and spun free as ever. So I reinstalled it and here's where my dilema comes in.

The first time I ran the car, I forgot to tighten down a turbo bolt and exhaust manifold stud and only got 3 pounds of boost. Tightened them down today and took it out for another spin. I built some boost and it wasn't smoking or anything. Felt like it was spooling a little slow, but it still built boost in second gear. Got to about 10 pounds and the car began to sputter badly. Almost like it was running on 3 cylinders.

I pulled it back in the garage and it ran fine, so I gave it a decent rev and it began to idle horribly and sputter again like it was going to die. I also got some blue smoke (oil) from underneath the turbo it looked like.

Any ideas here?

Im going to say if the turbo did infact seize from anything its probably not going to perform like a working turbo would. The perfection in balancing turbos is precise. The bearings are all designed to function under normal conditions. A free floating compwheel can throw that off in an an instant. Like stated in another thread even a bent fin, just one slightly bent fin can cause damage. I really would not risk running this. What turbo was is? Is it underwarranty?
