So when I got this car, it had a vented apexi bov. The car would stall in between shifts. I ordered and put on the stock 1g bov, and I got a hose recirculating it back to the intake. After installing this, the car seems to struggle past 4k rpms. The car is acting just funny in general now. I posted some pictures of my setup below. I also posted the picture of the manual boost controller, and I am wondering if I turn the mbc knob cw or ccw to set boost back to near stock? The person before me has it set at 17psi, and I want to turn it down. Also any opinions on what this issue is im having with the car struggling up the rpms?

there is no gap where the flange on the bov is, there is the gasket (which is blue) that was ordered from the factory with the bov.The vacuum line on the bov i took off of the apexi one and put it on this one. I am honestly not sure where it goes.

To turn boost down screw the MBC out, to turn the boost up screw it in,

Do a good boost leak test.

The Vac line from the BOV should go to a nipple on your intake manifold. Trace the line and see what it is hooked up to at the moment.

The vacuum line goes here:

Ok so we know you have things hooked up correctly and you know how to dial the boost down, can you better explain your problem of the car acting funny? Have you tested for boost leaks?

I don't have the stuff to test for boost leaks. Just started working on this today. A little over 4k rpms the car starts to what sounds like backfire, and putter real bad. The gauge says its around 5 lbs of boost at that point. I got the mbc all the way out for now. It did not do this before it was converted to the stock-style setup.

Try taking off the mbc and run a straight line off the j pipe to the waistgate actuator, also do a boost leak test, if you have a air compressor its really easy to make a boost leek tester. Im also assuming you have a boost gauge, if not u really need to get one asap to know where your at. If its back fireing and sputtering it sounds like your running to much boost and or your spark plugs could be bad or wires or big boost leak.

Is taking off the mbc and just running a line there stock configuration? just curious, but I haven't tried it yet because the lines are just zip tied on each side of mbc (the far end ones are clamps though), and I don't have any mini clamps to replace them with. I changed spark plugs and going to do wires tomorrow. Spark plugs were very black. I will do a leak test as soon as I finish reading up on it and get what I need (the vfaq page tutorial makes it sound super simple). Thank you all very much for your help so far.

I did a boost leak test today after getting all the stuff for it. There is a HUGE leak down near the intercooler. It wont hold over a few psi now. It doesn't seem to be on the piping or where the clamps are, so I am guessing it is on the intercooler itself. I don't have the bumper off, so it is rather hard to find the exact location of the leak. I am about to take it off and inspect it shortly.

Well attempted to fix the intercooler, and tested it by itself. I managed to get it to hold 20 psi, so I hooked it back up. Afterward I did another boost leak test, but cannot get the system to even go over 0 psi. I am using a bike pump, so maybe it is pumping too slow. I can't hear or feel any air coming out anywhere, and with soap I see no bubbles. Maybe there is a huge leak I am not seeing. I made sure everything was hooked back up correctly and super tight. I tried disconnecting the mbc as well like suggested before and just running a line bypassing it. I also changed the plugs and wires just in case.

You need an air compressor. The bike pump won't provide a large enough volume of air to fill the system fast enough.

Hehe... I finally got an air compressor, and I tested for boost leaks today. The intercooler is still not leaking, but there was a bad leak at the gasket for the lower intercooler pipe. I got that fixed and tested again. This last time I found a leak somewhere on the underside of the throttle body, and I also heard one somewhere under the headers. I cannot quite pinpoint where the last one is exactly. I can only hear it, but I am having trouble feeling it. Four boost leaks so far... sigh :(
