Problem With the belts!!!Please Help!!!

I have problem with the outside belts in my car..not the timing belt. Everytime after or during the rain when I start my car I can hear that squzizing sound comining of the belts. Will replacing the belts take care of itt..I wonder why it always happens during rain..possible tahat they are getting when..if so should they???Maybe I have a leak or something cause I dont think water should be getting under the hood. Anyone ever had that problem..Please Help..Thanks a lot. My car is 99 and has 71000 miles so probably the belts are old.

If you look at the belts you'll likely see "glazing" (i.e. smooth to the touch) which indicates that the belts are worn and are slipping on the pulleys. Replace them making sure you adjust the tensioner to the right specs and shoudl be good.

As for the rain.. if the belts are already slipping.. any moisture (even a little) can make it worse

this has happend to me on numerous occasions, to get by until i can actually change the belts i bought some STP belt dressing and it seem to work fine....but i'd definatly change the belts though
