As you guys know i just posted about finding an iac in the junkyard. It has been raining and i am unable to make it to the junkyard. Before i waste my time, i have a question. My coils are fine on the iac, i have checked them with a multimeter. I seem to get my car to idle good, after being warm. So i shut it off and the next morning, i go out and start it, let it warm completely. The car will be idling totally different, and i didnt even touch anything. I am one day it will idle at 700 and one day at 1200. I am thinking the iac keeps getting stuck. No factors have been changed (same temp out, fully warm, and i never touched anything. NO BOOST LEAKS!

After a while since they only move a little bit they can wear out that spot in the motor. The resistance will ohm out properly but when the step motor tries to move it cant.

Think of a stripped screw.

Do you have a logger?

If you can log the ISC/IAC position you can tell very quickly if the BISS adjustment was done properly or if someone halfassed it. If someone just turned the BISS without commanding the motor to hold at position 30 (centered), now the ISC/IAC may be at it's maximum closed travel and can't close any further to fix your cold idle.

I deffinetly didnt know this. So it will most likely be best for me to get a few iacs from the junkyard and hopefully that will solve the problem.

Sadly i do not have a logger. Even with the biss out of whack, i dont think it would cause this. I have never heard anyone with such a problem.

I just went through this, LOL and it was my cam angle sensor. Not the norm but worth looking into. I had this problem for 4 years before i found it. My car would through a check engine light for bank 1 o2 until my car stopped starting recently and it finally pointed to the cam sensor. My car runs normal finally after the new sensor was installed.

Thats really odd. I wonder if i should look into it. Otherwise there are no symptoms of the CAS being bad. Iac is much cheaper, so it will be a start. What kind of symptoms were you having with the bad CAS?

I would also like to add that i have to give it gas on start up.... which also leads me to believe there is a iac problem.
