Problem with dash lights..

i was driving and all of a sudden my battery,abs, and brake light come on besides my CEL thats been there for a while. but yeah i stop..turn the car off and turn it back on and the lights are still on. does anyone know what causes this?? also i noticed my subwoofer dosent work anymore..dunno if that has to do anything with it..but yeah any help would be appreciated.

I have seen cars with these symptoms before, its generally when the batteries voltage is pretty low, If you have access to a voltmeter check your batteries voltage while the car is off and then again while it is running.

While the car is running your voltage should be somewhere around 14 volts, and with the car off someplace around 12 volts.

If you are not seeing somewhere around 14 volts while the car is running then you have a problem with your alternator.

If you do have your 14 volts while its running then check out your battery and battery connections.

It also probably wouldnt hurt to pickup a cheap wire brush and unhook the connections at the battery terminals and clean them up really good with a wire brush then put them back together, because it could just be a connection issue.

I agree jake. Try turning lights on and see if they dim while the cars running. Also you can buy post rings at any autostore. You wont have to worry scrubbing, or baking soda or whatever you use.

Yeah I agree with all three of them. and since you are running a sub and amp I would change batteries to an optima. thats what I have and has'nt let me down since I put it in about 10k ago! O and also if you are gonna clean off the terminals with a wire brush also mix a little hot water and baking soda together and put that on there as well that will get any acid off that is making you have a weak connection.

ok thanks guys..yeah it might be the battery i have a cheapo duralast battery from autozone..i was jammin loud that night and after a while this shit happened.

Yep, those 3 lights are signaled by the ecu when it has a low charging condition, nothing to do with the batteries.

if you dont believe defiant, since he is right, ill say it too, its the alternator. exact same symptoms when mine was going.

Lol. Listen to the guy. If you've got a huge system look into a higher output one. Also, check for a short that might cause your alternator to work harder.
