got the driver's side half-shaft out and i'm working on my passanger's side but the stud on the balljoint is turning with the nut... i was thinking about cutting the boot on the balljoint and just and clamp the stud and try to get the nut. any other suggestions would really help me. my garage is a mess..

Take a deep well socket about the same size as the lower portion of the ball joint and put it on a jack, put jack under a-arm and ball joint. Lift jack until ball joint stops spinning within itself.
