wobble seems to forget that we are all brothers at times, w/o the success of 1st gens you would never have gotten to enjoy your barbie car. pay a little respect to your elders, when you say 1st gens look like sh*t you are insulting probably over 75% of the avid DSM community. you cant even preach about 2g reliability or luxurary factor since your car has gone through 3 engines at only 70,000 miles and is a maintence hog that over heats all the time. mines still running on # 2 or 3 engine at 242,000 miles. and as far as spyders's looks go, your car got ripped by a fellow 2g owner. javier pulls 2.2-2.3 60' times, javier takes you 2 to 3 cars out of the hole on a launch. so that puts you somewhere in the 2.7 60' range, thats a conservative estimate too. Now "the tool bench" will pull 1.7 60' times all day long on your ass.

Given the above info we can come to the conclusion that 2.7sec - 1.7sec = 1 sec @ 60' so like i said before when you beat a real car like a ZO6 or a Viper like i did with witnesses, then you can come talk to me. the AWD will own with the MAFT thats never been on it w/ the injectors i got comin in. keep in mind the 2 cars i beat posted above were beat on stock injectors, and 3 cylinders worth of compression. #1 90psi, #2 100psi, #3 120psi, #4 130psi. so stop ripping 1st gens they are phenominal feats of modern engineering; without our bottom ends your car would be singing the crank walk blues, and you'd be stuck tryin to pick up ass in the cable truck. Picking on all that rice around town has seriously screwed with your sense of reality, stop pickin on 03' civic Si and local rice :rolleyes: and race some REAL cars; see if you don't come back with your tail between your legs.

ok this is turning ugly... as ugly as first gens j/k... Its all about prefference, and its true more people say the second gen is prettier.. Doesnt make the 1st gen ugly just we are prettier..

Yea having a "Pretty car" is every testosterone driven man's greatest dream. If you consider yourself pretty then i think theres a forum just for women and little girls on here somewhere. can anyone verify that for me so we can help our confused little friend here find his way.

I don't have any issues, only with wobble. we are friends so we can rip on each other all we want. i think he will agree with me on this one but your the one with the gender identity crisis issues here. guys just don't refer to themselves as pretty, only if, man i hate to say it but, "you swing that way". you'll have to excuse me, i must go take a shower now. i feel dirty after even saying that. :barf:

as for my 60'ft time.. yea.. its kinda bad.. or it was till i got new springs, now its deacent, at the track i was pulling 2.2s but after the turbo upgrade and shit i got unused to launching and im just now getting to where i dont spin like crazy, its gotten better.. ha-vee will prolly still get me in the 1/4... but considering he has those fat ass tires and still runs open wastegate i doubt that will change.. illl just have to live with killing him from a roll only:(

But dammit, Fred, get your injectors and get down here and race my childs shoe, ill evel bring barbie alon and she can videotape .. hell ill even leave the top down..

Guys, I hate to say this to all the 2g enthusiasts, but the 1g really has it in the performance market, hands down. The 1g has a better turbo, slightly better head design(if I'm not mistaken), and even the BOV is better. And they also to my opinion seem to handle better out of the box. The 2g weighs more, and you can really feel it in the corners. Oh, and my 1g Laser has no rust, over 191,000 miles on it, and has been a daily driven Wisconsin car for years. Even in the winter. It just depends on how it was taken care of.

I do however hate the seatbelts....
 
well, if performance = everything to like about a car.. then your right.. but it doesent, so your not. there is more than 1/4 mile times that go into my decision making process.

I dont want a "race car" any old ugly POS can be made into a race car.. i want a kickass street car.. good looks, power, handeling.. something that both performance addicts and the average joe will like.. 1gs are only appreciated fully by DSM nutts, maby thats at the loss of the rest of the world but thats how it is.. like i said, its great to haul ass.. but better to turn heads while doing it..

and yea, off the shelf the 1g has better performance, but the all mighty dollar can make up for any shortcommings.
 
Well just to add my 2 cents, I will admit that my friend Josh's 1g looks better than my 2g, also 2g's also feel flimsy and toyish to me. The only dsm's I see Autocrossing are 1g's, and the only girls I can say payed more attention to me after getting my 2g, are the 16 and 17 year olds from my old school that I see around town. I think my 2g is rickety as balls, the only 2g I would truely own would be a 99 gsx, I hate the 2ga's, the 2gb's are better looking and the tranny is better in the 99. I would most definately own a 1G b4 I get another 2g. Plus if I really wanted to look bad ass and get attention because of a car it would have to be a mk 4 supra. Really the only thing the girls at the races flock 2 besides the rice.
 
It will probably take you longer to find a clean 1G that doesn't have excessively high mileage. However, if you are interested in drag racing ability for cheap then 1Gs are better.

Get 2Gs if you like flying through the twisties. I love my 2G, and I wouldn't trade it for a 1G anyday, but the 1Gs are great cars too.

All I have to say is the 1G is lighter/2G is a bit of a porker. 2G has more power/1G still weighs less...Styling sorry.....2G. Basically what I'm getting at is. Anything but the 95-96 "Goofy ass smile" Models! Well I do have a 2G...
 
I have yet to own a DSM of any sort, but I understand that both the 1g and 2g have their advantages. Any DSM is a nice car and I would be happy with either. With enough cash and effort, both gens can handle a WS6, SS, or a "mommy-daddy boy's" mustang...I'm just waiting for the day i wax my neighbor's 3g:cool:

good god.. my launch.. sucked salty elephant testies tonight!

went to river city raceway, they had a damn even so they had the track nice and stick... as a result in BOTH of my 2 runs i bogged horribly.. 2.55 60ft time... 14.3 @ 105.. dammit!

got to see a car catch fire and someone takeing 2 full min to stage, and i won bot my races.. so it wasnt a total loss.. and got to kill a mustang bullit on the way home which is always a plus.. but dammit.. i would have had high 13s easy if i didnt bog.. turbo lag is a wicked bastard to me when the track is that sticky. i would rather spin.. you would think launching at 5k would avoid this.. but it didnt.. STICKY STICKY!!!

I cant say im 100% looks, the only thing stock in my car is the block, but ive still got a chipped tail light and a crack in the windshield that was there when i got it.. but im not gonna preted i dont car, they WILL be fixed.. after i get new shocks.. and a water temp gauge..

like i said, you can hav ethe fastest car in town, but if it looks like carp.. speed is all you have.. which is cool and all, but wouldent you rather have a car that can turn heads standing still aswell.. that is tolerable to drive normally..etc etc..

and 1g look better than 2gs.. that must be an aquired taste.. like learning to eat rotted frog eyeballsOMG

this is your personal opinion. trust me, it is not shared by me.

I bought my car to haul ass. I have never, nor never will need a car to get girls to look at me, or get them to hold a conversation with me. I don't need a car to feel better about myself either.

So why didnt I go 2g? I could afford it, but it simply costs more to make as fast as a comparable 1g. I happen to like the looks of a black 1ga, also.

I don't think you could call any DSM ugly..none of us are driving minivans or pontiac azteks here.

From my personal opinion, it seems the crutch holding up SOME 2g guy's egos is the looks debate. It's kinda sad, truthfully..because DSM's have always been the import 5.0 in terms of performance potential. If you want all out looks, buy a civic and slap a bodykit on it like 90% of the import lemmings out there right now. Don't use it as a defense.
 
haha the 95-96 DSM's are fukin uglier then the 1G's so if u have one of those years, then u are way out classed by a 1g! good things bout the 2nd gen hmmmmmm......... is cuz it looks bublier? no, maybe because it was in fast and furious? or maybe cuz my sister drive one? not sure.....haha :D

no argument that the 2gb front bumper looks better, but if im gonna spend some cash its damn well gonna be on something more performance oriented than some urethane that goes on the front of the car

1gs can look good if theyre nice and clean, but personally i like the 1ga front a lot better than the 1gb fixed headlight front, and the 1994 talon rear bumper more than any other 1g rear bumper, with a 3 piece wrap around spoiler and talon sideskirts. and all of it painted a dark color.

then a 1g looks dynamite. the 1g can be mistaken for a few other cars though, whereas the 2g looks like absolutely nothing else on the road. a supra would be the closest thing.
